With frenzied shopping, endless gift-swapping and non-stop partying, the holidays can leave us feeling buried in materialistic pursuits.
It’s time to shift into a different pace by giving back to your community. Take the time this month to sift through that stack of gifts and holiday leftovers. Is there anything in your stocking stuffers you can’t or won’t use? Maybe someone else would enjoy it more. Do you have cans of pie filling or tins of cookies that are not needed? You might want to donate them to a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter.
Bring your kids along when you make your generous gift drops. Let them see that giving can be even more gratifying than receiving a present.
Start the new year off with an act of kindness!
