Highlights: Vancouver, Alaska's Inside Passage, Ketchikan, Misty Fjords, Juneau, Mendenhall Glacier, Skagway, Glacier Bay, Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali State Park
Board the Norwegian Sun in Vancouver, Canada, and cruise the Inside Passage, 274 miles of dramatic scenery and glaciers, prime habitat for bald eagles, sea lions, porpoise, and whales. Dock at Ketchikan and experience a float plane flight to the Misty Fjords, with its 1,000-foot waterfalls and pristine forests. Enjoy an outdoor museum of native art with the world’s largest collection of native totem poles!
Dock at Juneau, the capital of Alaska, accessible only by water or air. It’s not surprising that wildlife thrives in this stunning frontier landscape. Here you could choose a whale watching excursion or marvel at the 12-mile long Mendenhall Glacier.
Next, we’ll arrive at Skagway, the gateway to the gold fields. We’ll enjoy an excursion to the Liarsville Gold Rush Camp and Salmon Bake, located at the foot of the White Pass Trail. After Skagway, we’ll sail through Glacier Bay, where only a handful of ships are allowed each year. Then we’ll continue on to Hubbard Glacier, the longest river of ice in North America. This is also one of the most active glaciers of its kind in Alaska, and it’s been thickening and advancing toward the Gulf of Alaska in sharp contrast to most glaciers, which have thinned and are retreating. After a week onboard the Norwegian Sun, we’ll disembark in Seward and transfer to Anchorage before visiting the historic mining village of Talkeetna nestled at the base of Denali (aka, Mount McKinley), before we travel through Denali State Park. Very few visitors are given the unique opportunity to experience a Denali Backcountry Adventure, but that’s just what we’ll do.
Then, we’ll ride the Alaska rails on a four hour journey in a dome car to Fairbanks. Just 188 miles south of the Arctic Circle, you’ll enjoy a day of nearly 21 hours of sunlight! We’ll explore Fairbanks beginning with a ride on the Riverboat Discovery to Chena Indian Village. We’ll catch our flight home in Fairbanks.
This TRIPS adventure includes much more than most Alaska excursions. Even if you’ve been to Alaska before, you’ll want to go again! Save your spot today!
