Highlights: Venice, Florence, Sorrento, Rome, Pisa, Siena, Pompeii, San Gimignano, Capri, Naples, Florence via High Speed Train
We’ll see some of the most famous and recognizable sites while in Rome: the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Colosseum. We’ll travel to the ruins of Pompeii and take a walking tour to the excavated city. We’ll enjoy a hydrofoil boat ride to the Isle of Capri and stroll among its winding streets and quaint shops. We’ll stop at La Sorgente, a picturesque farm owned by the Marciano family, and watch mozzarella being made completely by hand.
RIDE THE HIGH SPEED TRAIN!
We’ll skip the 300 mile bus ride and board a high speed train in Naples bound for Florence. Take in Giotto’s Belltower, Ghiberti’s famous Gates of Paradise, the Brunelleschi Dome, and of course, the statue of David.
Also included is the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Piazza del Campo in Siena, often described as Italy’s best preserved medieval city. And we’ll visit San Gimignano, named after a bishop who is said to have saved the city from Attila the Hun. Venice is next, and no matter how many photos you have seen, the city is more dreamlike than you can imagine. You’ll see Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, and St. Mark’s Square.
But with all the history and sightseeing, the real treasures on this trip will be the Italian people you’ll meet—and the food! We’ll have two private wine tastings complete with meats and cheeses, nine “fortified” Italian continental breakfasts, and some of the freshest seafood you’ve ever tasted. Even if you’ve visited Italy before, you won’t want to miss this trip! Get all the details on this adventure with TRIPS, and reserve your spot with Leslie today.
